Kusanagi Tsuyoshi's SMAP member leader cast atarring in new drama series “Fuyu no Sakura,” on TBS. ”Fuyu no Sakura” is a sad love story in which Kusanagi falls in love with a lady who loses her memory due to a car accident, but she is actually married, and has a daughter.

Kusanagi play a craftsman of glasswork, and Imai Miki has been chosen as the heroine. It’s been 11 years since Imai made an appearance in a drama, and also the first time to co-star with Kusanagi. In addition to Imai, Sato Takeru, Kato Rosa, and Takashima Masanobu will also co-star with Kusanagi.




"Fuyu no Sakura (冬のサクラ)" is described as a pure love story with similarities to the popular Korean drama "Winter Sonata" (titled "Fuyu no Sonata" in Japan). Kusanagi plays a gentle glass craftsman in Yamagata who has no experience in love. Imai plays an older housewife with a husband and daughter who goes on a trip alone to Yamagata, hoping to see sakura trees blooming in winter. She gets into an accident, but is saved by Kusanagi. He ends up tending to her, and the two are soon drawn to each other.
