The "Believe in Hope, Fight & Smile" telethon was completed and successfully raised NT$ 788,546,555 (~26.6 million USD.)
Taiwan’s Red Cross Society, CTS, PTS and CTV will hold the “Believe in Hope, Fight & Smile” telethon on Friday to raise money for Japan. F.I.R. leader Ian Chen has written the event’s theme song “Believe” after he was inspired by Japanese locals who remained calm and orderly throughout the disaster. Singers including Lin Yu Chun, Tony Sun, Hsiao Hung Jen, Color , Jody Chiang, A-Lin and his own group F.I.R. have already taken part in the recording. Chen also wrote a voice-over segment for President Ma Ying Jeou who has agreed to participate according to CTS. His lines will be, “Believe in love, believe in hope, believe in the future, believe in me and you.”
Organizers are hoping to reunite F4 for the event, but their chances seem to be slim -- Vic Chou is scheduled to work in Beijing on the 18th, while Jerry Yan’s side has yet to receive an invite. Ken Chu and Van Ness Wu are tentatively scheduled to appear as per Chinatimes. The cast of “Big Party” will be answering calls alongside other volunteers at the telethon.
