Jang Dong-gun is likely to appear in a new film by critically acclaimed director Hur Jin-ho, according to Jang's agency on Monday.
An official with AM Entertainment told 10Asia over the phone that Jang is in final stages of discussions with Hur on "Shanghai Project" which is set to be the Chinese remake of a French literature classic named "Dangerous Liaisons."
If Jang decides to appear in the movie, the film will go into shoot around late September or early October, the official added.
Zonbo Media, which was the investment producer for Hur's "April Snow" and "A Good Rain Knows," will produce "Shanghai Project" as well.
Jang, considered one of Korea's most popular actors, has starred in numerous television dramas such as "All About Eve" and movies including "Friend," "TaeGukGi: Brotherhood Of War" and "Typhoon."
Most recently, he wrapped up filming of "My Way," famed Korean director Kang Je-gyu's Hollywood debut movie which also stars top Japanese actor Odagiri Joe and Chinese actress Fan Bingbing, which is now in post production stages.
"My Way," a historical film which tells about an Asian soldier (played by Jang) who was captured by the Japanese army and is later turned over to the German Nazis during World War II, is set to open simultaneously in Korea and Japan in December.
