Jung Il-woo has been cast as the main male character to a TV series set to show on cable channel tvN, according to the show's producer on Tuesday.
Producer Kim Young-kyu told 10Asia over the phone that Jung has decided to appear in "Pretty-faced Boy's Ramen Shop" (translated title) after reading the script for just a couple of episodes of the show.
"We're still in the process of casting the main female character and other pretty-faced male characters but he accepted the role willingly, saying that he likes his character a lot," Kim explained.
In the show, Jung will play the role of Cha Chi-soo, a proud and self-centered 19-year-old heir to a conglomerate who tries to help revitalize the ramen shop business of the main female character's father.
Kim then added, "The female character will be six years older than Cha Chi-soo, and is independent and determined."
The remaining members of the cast will be set by around mid-September, after Korea's Thanksgiving holidays, and go into shoot thereafter in time for the show's premiere at the end of October.
Jung, became popular in Korea, Japan and China after starring in MBC's sitcom "High Kick!" (2006-2007) and TV series "The Return of Iljimae" (2009).
Most recently, he appeared in this year's SBS' Wednesday and Thursday TV series "49 Days" alongside actresses Lee Yo-won and Nam Gyu-ri.
