Kim Myung-min has been cast in a disaster film, according to the movie's producer Ozone Films on Wednesday.
Ozone said that Kim has signed a contract to appear in a film named "Horsehair Worm" (translated title) which will start filming in mid-October.
The movie will be about horsehair worms, which are parasitic on insects and pierce out of their hosts when they grow, starting to kill off people.
Kim will play an employee of a pharmaceutical company who struggles to save his family from the disaster.
Park Jung-woo, who wrote the scripts for films "Kick the Moon" and "Jail Breaker" and directed "Dance with the Wind" and "Big Bang," will helm the upcoming movie.
Kim, one of the most sought-out actors in Korea, has appeared in a number of movies and dramas including "Closer to Heaven" (2009), "Detective K" (2011) "The Immortal Lee Soon Shin" (KBS, 2004) and "Beethoven Virus" (MBC, 2008).
He just finished filming movie "Pacemaker," telling of a marathon runner, also starring Ahn Sung-ki and Ara.
