The singer is being sued for owing royalties, but the case was dismissed due to a lack of proof.

A woman from China sued Taiwanese singer Jay Chou -- who had released three books throughout his showbiz career -- for owing her royalties.

The woman, surnamed Wang, claimed that she co-wrote a book with Jay, but was unable to reach the singer after the book was completed and did not receive the royalties that she deserved.

In her compensation request, Wang wanted the singer to provide receipts and bank statements, so as to make sure that the amount she received was correct.

Responding to the report, Jay, who is currently in America, said through his record label, that he had only released three books -- including Iron Box of an Island in 2001, Grandeur de D Major in 2005, and 2011's Music = Footage ≠Music.

Of the three, he had only collaborated on one, Iron Box of an Island which is a pictorial and video book, with good friend Vincent Fang. The singer had not worked with anyone else.

The court also ruled that the evidence presented by Wang was insufficient. Wang also did not pay the NT$17,335 (S$745) referee fees.

The Straits Exchange Foundation -- a semi-official organisation set up by the Taiwanese government to handle technical or business matters with China -- issued a notice to Wang to pay the fee and to provide additional proof of her claim.

However, as the woman did not respond to the notice, the court overruled her request for a trial.
