“Punch (Korean title “Waeduki”)," the blockbuster movie starring Yoo Ah In as a troublesome youth, was invited to screen at the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival, local news agencies reported. The film will be part of the Festival’s 62nd edition, and will be featured in the youth-centered “My Generation” section.

“Punch” is the second Korean film to participate in the Berlin International Film Festival, following 2007’s “Like a Virgin.”

The film is based on a best-selling book of the same name. Yoo Ah In plays the title character Wan Deuk, a rebellious youth. He meets an oddball teacher Dong Joo (played by Kim Yoon Suk). The two begin a teacher-student relationship that eventually becomes meaningful and fulfilling for both down-and-out characters.

“Punch” was also screened in some cities in the US and North America, after its domestic blockbuster success. Thus far, box office reports name it the third most-watched movie of 2011, gathering 5,000,000 viewers since it opened in October.

The Berlin International Film Festival will be held in February 2012.
