On June 22nd, the full trailer for the upcoming live-action adaptation of the award-winning novel ‘Tenchi Meisatsu‘ starring V6’s Okada Junichi was revealed on its official website.
The movie, directed by famed director Takita Yojiro (‘Departures’), is set in the early Edo period and depicts the life of ‘Yasui Santetsu’ (Okada), who is a Go player. One day, chief of the Aizu Domain; Hoshina Masayuki (Matsumoto Koshiro) ordered Yasui to create a new Japanese calendar after the traditional one was found to contain many flaws. Despite many setbacks in trying to observe and understand the stars’ movements, he never gives up and receives a lot of support from his devoted wife, played by actress Miyazaki Aoi.
‘Tenchi Meisatsu’ also features Sato Ryuta, Ichikawa Ennosuke, Sasano Takashi, Kishibe Ittoku, Watanabe Dai, Yokoyama Yu, Ichikawa Somegoro, and Nakai Kiichi, and is scheduled to open in cinemas nationwide on September 15th.
