The official website of the upcoming ‘Strawberry Night‘ movie – starring Takeuchi Yuko – was recently updated with a full trailer that gives fans of the TV drama a better look at the new difficult case and the character development.
‘Strawberry Night’ is a movie sequel to the popular Fuji TV drama series of the same name that aired from January until March this year. The series is based on Honda Tetsuya’s ‘Himekawa Reiko‘ novel series, and the movie is going to follow the story of ‘Invisible Rain‘ published in November 2009. Takeuchi is playing ‘Himekawa Reiko’, a female detective who was already promoted to assistant inspector at the age of 27, despite being an actual non-career woman. Moreover, she has to be very thick-skinned in the male-dominated profession.
In the movie, Himekawa is chasing after a serial murderer who already killed four people. However, she is soon running into a wall, because people inside the police don’t want this case to come to a conclusion in order to conceal a certain incident. Driven into a corner, she is even being forced to leave the police force and becomes dangerously close to the Yakuza boss ‘Makita’ (Osawa Takao), who seems to be the key to the whole puzzle. While it all may just be a move to find out what the higher ups are trying to hide and to catch the serial murderer, the ice is becoming thinner under her feet the close she gets to the truth.
Among those who are going to reprise their roles from the TV drama are Nishijima Hidetoshi, Ukaji Takashi, Koide Keisuke, Maruyama Ryuhei, and Takeda Tetsuya. New characters will be played by Miura Tomokazu, Sometani Shota, Kaneko Ken, Kaneko Nobuaki, Ishibashi Renji, and Tanaka Tetsushi.
‘Strawberry Night’ is slated for a release on January 26th, 2013.
