[News] JYJ to Contribute their Appearance Fee to UNICEF.

Korean pop group JYJ is to do another good deed by donating their appearance fees given by a government-organized Hallyu expo to UNICEF.

 Members of JYJ are actng as PR ambassadors for the Korea Brand & Entertainment Expo [KBEE2012], and Kim Jae-joong is to attend the donation ceremony at the Korean Committee for UNICEF in Seoul, Korea on March 5, the expo’s organizer Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency [KOTRA] said on February 26.

 At the three-day cultural exhibit held in Osaka, Japan last November, the “Get Out” singers participated as the face of the biggest Hallyu expo outside Korea by joining a UNICEF’s campaign in Korea and the expo’s opening ceremony in Japan.

“I was glad to join the meaningful exchange between Korea and Japan through the KBEE, and I’d like to think about our neighbors in need,” said Kim, “through the donation, I wanted to send a sign of consolation for children who are suffering due to starvation and poverty around the world.”

Park Dong-eun, President of the Korean Committee for UNICEF, said, “I was very surprised JYJ made the donation, giving up the total sum of their fees. I believe that their invaluable contribution will move many people to share more.”

The popular group earned another title as PR ambassadors for the upcoming 17th Asian Games Incheon 2014, which will be invite some 13,000 participants from 45 countries to Korea’s port city Incheon from September 19 to October 4 next year.
