The KBS series “Cheer Up, Mr. Kim!” has grabbed its third trophy on the weekly TV chart after depicting a heartwarming story over four months.

The daily drama dominated the chart with an average of 29.6 percent of viewers during the week of March 18 and 24, TNmS [Total National Multimedia Statistics] showed on Monday.

Portraying marginalized characters such as a male housemaid Taepyeong [Kim Dong-wan] and a partially disabled man Hogyeong [Kang Sung-min], the extraordinary story of the evening daily drama has been getting good responses from viewers.

The KBS weekend drama “You Are The Best!” nabbed the second position after pulling in an average of 24.3 percent viewers in the same time frame.

In the sixth episode aired on Sunday, songstress IU gave an emotional portrayal of a girl faced with the sudden death of her father.

The KBS daily news show “KBS 9 o’clock News” ranked at No. 3 with an average of 20.8 percent ratings, while the MBC weekend series “One Hundred Years’ Legacy” followed next with an average of 20.6 percent.

Sitting at number five was the MBC morning soap “Maybe Love,” which succeeded in recording an average of 20.3 percent viewers.
The ranking last week was all the more significant as the two major broadcasters experienced a breakdown of their intra-server due to hacking.

Other TV shows in the top ten include the SBS revenge drama “Queen of Ambition,” the MBC medical epic “The King’s Doctor,” comedian Kim Byung-man and his celeb tribe’s reality “The Laws of the Jungle,” the MBC daily series “Oh Ja-ryong is Coming” and the SBS variety show “I Like Sundays.”

Meanwhile, Nielsen Korea showed the top three programs in the same order and similar figures from those of TNmS during the third week of March.

While “Cheer Up” grabbed the top seed with 29.0 percent, “You Are The Best!” and “KBS 9 o’clock News” followed next with 24.3 and 21.5 percent ratings, respectively.
