What is going on with three of the hottest dramas of this season?
** "That Winter, The Wind Blows"
April 3, the 16th episode of the SBS drama "That Winter, The Wind Blows" is being described as a masterpiece that is taking the spotlight for everything. "That Winter, The Wind Blows" is being constantly praised for its artistic imagery as well as its strong story, not to mention all the breathtaking acting from the cast. According to Nielson Korea, the episode that aired March 27 received over 14% viewing rate, placing at number one.
"That Winter, The Wind Blows" has been receiving a high and consistent viewing rates and maintained its place at number one since the second episode.
Song Hye Kyo who portrays the main female character has been given the title, "Melo-Queen" for her convincing act in her role. Song Hye Kyo's co-star, Jo In Sung has also been praised for his "mind-blowing" portrayal of his character Oh Soo. "That Winter, The Wind Blows" became a project that provided their fans with a chance to see these actors in more mature and more complex roles. Both Song Hye Kyo and Jo In Sung seem to have taken a significant step as actor and actress through working on this masterpiece.
** "IRIS 2"
On the other hand, "IRIS 2" is being described as a disappointment. One of the problems may be that actors Jang Hyuk and Lee Da Hae were not enough to draw in more viewers, compared to the first season that featured actors like Lee Byung Hun and Kim Tae Hee. Even though the production crew expected a lot from Jang Hyuk and Lee Da Hae's chemistry, something must have been lacking for the viewers to stay interested.
Most of all however, the problem was that the expectations were too high from the beginning. The production crew had revealed that the budget for this drama is $10 million and that it will be at a blockbuster-level with endless action and excitement.
However, the production crew remains hopeful since there is still a chance for the drama to turn around for the better.
** "Level 7 Civil Servant"
In the MBC drama "Level 7 Civil Servant", the viewers described the ending "bittersweet" and "disappointing". This drama first kicked off with a 15% viewing rate but fell all the way down to 7% towards the end.
Regardless of the negative reviews of the drama, the actors have been receiving praise for their performances. Joo Won and Choi Kang Hee surprised the viewers with new images featuring serious characters that can be funny at the same time.
With the "masterpiece" SBS drama "That Winter, The Wind Blows" coming to an end on April 3, will the viewing rate of "IRIS 2" be able to rise? Or will its low viewing rate continue until final episode?
