This is JKS’s interview as he talked about his character, Hwang Tae Kyung, in “You’re Beautiful”. I can’t remember when this interview took place (Sorry for my shrink memory. I’m just an old lady.^^) But his talk is really great, about his character, his colleague, and his thought (and I can tell you he can have serious talk if necessary…^^). So, I’d like to share with you. Please enjoy :D

อันนี้เป็นบทสัมภาษณ์ที่จางกึนซ็อกพูดถึงฮวางแทคยอง ตัวละครที่เขาเล่นใน “You’re Beautiful” นะคะ (จำที่มาที่ไปไม่ได้แล้ว แต่น่าจะเป็นก่อนละครออนแอร์ที่ญี่ปุ่นค่ะ) ฟังน้องซ็อกรั่วมาเยอะแล้ว มาฟังแบบพูดเป็นงานเป็นการบ้างนะคะ (พูดแบบคนปกติก็เป็นนะเออ ขอบอก ใช่ว่าจะบ้าอยู่ตลอดเวลา)

Please explain your character?
The role HTK that I played is one role that you seldom find in other drama. He's a clean freak, don’t like anyone giving him troubles, and dislike interaction with other people. So it leads people to think that he doesn't understand the basis of human interpersonal relationships and is always living so tiringly. He's someone who will protect his territory with all his might and also someone who really suffers from the pain brought by his parents. In his deepest heart, there is a very deep wound. Alone, he carries a heavy burden on his shoulder.

But because of Go Minam's approach, because of love, he is slowly changed, even the feelings when he's composing song is also changed. This drama is about the gradual change and the growing relationship of Hwang Tae Kyung after he unexpectedly met Go Minam.

บทฮวางแทคยองที่ผมเล่นเป็บบทที่ไม่ค่อยเจอบ่อยนักในละครเรื่องอื่นๆ เขาเป็นคนที่รักความสะอาดแบบสุดๆ ไม่ชอบให้ใครสร้างปัญหาให้เขา และเกลียดการปฏิสัมพันธ์กับผู้คน ซึ่งทำให้คนคิดไปว่าเขาไม่เข้าใจการสร้างความสัมพันธ์กับมนุษย์คนอื่นๆ และใช้ชีวิตแปลกแยกจากคนอื่นๆ เขาเป็นคนที่ปกป้องอาณาเขตของตัวเองอย่างสุดกำลัง และเป็นคนที่แบกรับความเจ็บปวดจากการกระทำของพ่อแม่ตัวเอง ลึกๆ ในใจของเขานั้นมีบาดแผลที่ฝังลึก เขาแบกรับภาระอันหนักอึ้งนี้ไว้บนบ่าตามลำพัง

แต่เพราะโกมินัมก้าวเข้ามา เพราะความรัก เขาจึงค่อยๆ เปลี่ยนไป แม้แต่ความรู้สึกเวลาแต่งเพลงก็เปลี่ยนไปด้วย ละครเรื่องนี้เป็นเรื่องของความเปลี่ยนแปลงที่ค่อยเป็นค่อยไป ความสัมพันธ์ที่งอกงามขึ้นของฮวางแทคยองหลังจากที่เขาได้พบกับโกมินัมแบบไม่คาดฝัน

What do you have to prepare for this role?
One of the most important part in this drama is I've became a leader. I'm the eldest amongst my colleague in this drama, so I need to lead everyone. This pressure is not the same as before. I need to bring out my leadership style. In the drama, HTK must always show his strained (tense) side, and express a clear emotion with his eyes; this is also a big challenge to my acting skills, but all the younger generation actors are all very outstanding. I feel very happy. The shooting process is always very pleasant because all the actors are young so during shooting everyone are always in high spirit.

I’m 23 years old this year. Even though I'm 23 but on the set I'm the senior one so I must lead everyone. I can unconsciously chatting happily with the junior, but when the director called us, I have to lead everyone to the set. Since I am in that position, when the director's eye has changed (meaning getting serious) I have to bring this juniors to start working.

คุณต้องเตรียมตัวอะไรบ้างสำหรับบทนี้...
หนึ่งในส่วนสำคัญที่สุดของละครเรื่องนี้ก็คือผมต้องเป็นลีดเดอร์ ผมอายุมากสุดในบรรดานักแสดงด้วยกัน ผมจึงต้องนำทุกคน ความกดดันนี้ไม่เหมือนกับที่ผ่านๆ มา ผมต้องดึงเอาความเป็นผู้นำออกมา ในละครฮวางแทคยองจะแสดงด้านที่เคร่งเครียด แสดงความรู้สึกอย่างชัดเจนด้วยสายตา นี่เป็นความท้าทายครั้งยิ่งใหญ่สำหรับทักษะการแสดงของผม แต่นักแสดงรุ่นน้องทุกคนก็ทำได้ดีมาก ผมรู้สึกมีความสุขมาก การถ่ายทำเป็นไปอย่างน่าพอใจ เพราะนักแสดงทุกคนยังเด็กอยู่ ระหว่างถ่ายทำทุกคนจะทุ่มเทกันเต็มที่

ปีนี้ผมอายุ 23 แล้ว ถึงแม้ผมจะอายุ 23 แต่ในกองถ่ายผมเป็นรุ่นพี่ ผมจึงต้องนำทุกคน ผมอาจพูดคุยอย่างสนุกสนานกับพวกน้องๆ แต่เมื่อผู้กำกับเรียกเรา ผมต้องนำทุกคนไปเข้าฉาก เพราะผมต้องอยู่ในตำแหน่งนั้น เวลาที่สายตาของผู้กำกับเปลี่ยนไป (เปลี่ยนเป็นจริงจังเมื่อเริ่มทำงาน) ผมต้องพาน้องๆ ให้เริ่มลงมือทำงาน

Please introduce the other 3 actors.
He, Lee Hong Ki, in the drama, acts as Jeremy and represents a very cute role. Born of english aristocrat, cheerful personality, likes practical joke, he brings energy to the other members, his existence is just like an orange's vitamin C. To his side is Yang Shin Wo, played by Jung Yong Hwa, he's the opposite of my character. He has deep feelings and a very warm person. GMN, I and he are involved in a love triangle. Even though these HTK and YSW don’t have any similarities, but because of GMN they became rivals.

Next is GMN, even though she is a girl, but disguised as a man and joined the band. Her character is very interesting because of her there's a new energy in the band. During her stay in the dorm, together, there’s a lot of interesting things going on. The fact that GMN is a girl has been revealed from the first episode, in the drama there are people who want to keep Minam's identity secret, but there are also those who'd like to expose her. Two opposite standpoint, and there's a lot of other issues too so it's one very interesting music band.

ลีฮงกี ในละครเขาแสดงเป็นเจเรมี เป็นตัวละครที่น่ารักมาก เขาเกิดในอังกฤษ เป็นคนที่ร่าเริง เหมือนเป็นตัวตลก เขาทำให้สมาชิกคนอื่นๆ มีพลัง การมีเขาอยู่เหมือนมีวิตามิน ซี ข้างๆ เขาก็คือคังชินวู แสดงโดยจุงยงฮวา เขาเป็นตัวละครที่ตรงข้ามกับผม เขาเป็นคนมีความรู้สึกลึกๆ และเป็นคนที่อบอุ่นมาก โกมินัม เขา และผม พวกเราเป็นรักสามเส้า ฮวางแทคยองกับคังชินวูไม่มีอะไรที่เหมือนกันเลย แต่เป็นเพราะโกมินัม จึงต้องกลายเป็นคู่แข่งกัน

ต่อมาก็คือโกมินัม ถึงแม้เธอจะเป็นผู้หญิง แต่ปลอมตัวเป็นผู้ชายเพื่อจะเข้ามาร่วมวง ตัวละครนี้น่าสนใจมากครับ เพราะเธอในวงจึงมีพลังแบบใหม่ๆ เกิดขึ้น ระหว่างที่พวกเราอยู่บ้านเดียวกัน มีเรื่องน่าสนใจเกิดขึ้นมากมาย ความจริงเรื่องที่โกมินัมเป็นผู้หญิงถูกเปิดเผยตั้งแต่ตอนแรกๆ ในละครมีคนที่พยายามปกปิดฐานะของโกมินัม แต่ก็มีคนที่อยากเปิดโปงเธอ เป็นจุดยืนที่แตกต่างกัน และมีเรื่องราวมากมาย นี่จึงเป็นวงดนตรีที่น่าสนใจมากๆ



Do you have any plans to come out as a singer in Japan?
I'm very lucky. So far I always got a part where I’m a singer, in Korea when I'm become MC, I often dance and sing. A lot of people have been asking me whether I'm considering to debut as a singer but I've never thought about this. My purpose has always been becoming an accomplished actor, and striving in this path. Because I think there a still a lot of people who don’t know who Jang Keun Suk is, people who don’t know who I am, so I think my biggest aim is to prove myself. As for singing, acting or dancing, I just want the friends in Japan to understand me from all sides…this is the fact.

คุณมีแผนที่จะเปิดตัวเป็นนักร้องในญี่ปุ่นบ้างมั้ย...
ผมโชคดีมากครับ ผมมักได้รับบทเป็นนักร้องอยู่บ่อยๆ ในเกาหลีตอนที่ผมเป็นเอ็มซี ผมก็เต้นและร้องเพลงอยู่บ่อยๆ มีหลายคนเลยที่ถามผมว่าเคยคิดจะเป็นนักร้องบ้างมั้ย แต่ผมไม่เคยคิดถึงเรื่องนี้เลย จุดประสงค์ของผมก็คือการเป็นนักแสดงที่ประสบความสำเร็จ และมุ่งมั่นเดินไปบนเส้นทางสายนี้มาตลอดครับ เพราะผมคิดว่ายังมีคนอีกมากที่ไม่รู้ว่าจางกึนซ็อกคือใคร มีคนที่ไม่รู้ว่าผมเป็นใคร เป้าหมายที่ยิ่งใหญ่ของผมก็คือการพิสูจน์ตัวเอง ทั้งการร้องเพลง การแสดง หรือการเต้น ผมก็แค่อยากให้เพื่อนๆ ในญี่ปุ่นเข้าใจตัวผมจากทุกๆ ด้านเท่านั้นเองครับ นี่คือความจริง

Message to the friends in Japan.
Our drama in Korea has gained the attention and support of the 10-30 years old audience. Although a lot of people really worry about Jang Keun Suk being the lead role, however all the actors and crew, in order to produce the best drama, we are working very hard in the middle of the cold winter. We heard that the drama will be broadcasted in Japan, I'm very sure everyone can watch this drama with a happy mood.
