[News] Kim Min-jong joins Athena: Goddess of War.

Kim Min-jong has been added to Athena: Goddess of War,he will be playing the role of Kim Gi Soo, a North Korean agent of a Foreign Investigation Department. Unlike his previous calm and kind roles, he will be making a 180 degree change in this drama, and display a strong partnership with Jung Woo Sung.

Kim is making a complete 180 from his previous image — serious, gentle — by playing an impudent and snobby character in Athena. In fact, he has been so good at playing the sensitive guy (refer to his heartbreaking Officer Gu in The Return of Iljimae) that if he hadn’t recently gone for an action role in A Man Called God (see above photo), I wouldn’t be sure whether the casting was right. I do recall that he was pretty good at playing a cad in the cable drama Hyena, though, so I have faith he can be convincing as a brash spy.



Taewon Entertainment revealed that they were looking for someone who could act alongside Jung Woo Sung, but not fall behind in energy and charisma. Kim Min Jong fit this criteria, and was immediately cast as Kim Gi Soo.

The two actors Jung Woo Sung and Kim Min Jong are expected to demonstrate impressive teamwork in this drama.Athena has just piqued my flagging interest! Aside from Kim MinJjong and Jung Woo Sung, it also stars Cha Seung-won, Su Ae, and Lee Jia.
