A new Chinese drama starring Korean actress Han Ji-hye will go on air this week in Korea, said the drama’s promoter CJ E&M on Monday.

A press release by CJ E&M explained that Han Ji-hye’s debut drama in China named “Embroider of Heaven” will show every weekday evening starting May 25 on ZHTV, a Korean cable channel specializing on Chinese broadcasts.

“I have always hoped that this drama would go on air in Korea so I'm very happy now that it’s happening,” Han was quoted as saying in the press release.

“’Embroider’ is a modern Chinese drama set in the beautiful canal town of Suzhou with great embroidery work hiding the secret to one's birth as well as being a love story… I’m sure Korean viewers will love it too,” added the actress.

She went onto say that she is willing to take on other Chinese projects in the future as well as long as she finds the script interesting and her role fitting.

In the drama, Han plays Chun Chae-hee, a college girl from Korea who comes to China’s Suzhou city in search of her mother only to fall in love with the art of embroidery and settles there to learn more.

Chinese actor Lu Yi plays a local businessman that begins the search for an authentic embroidery masterpiece called Embroider of Heaven after acquiring a fake one and on the sideline, meets Chun and becomes impressed by her artistic skills.

The drama, whose story was inspired by a Gongbi painting -- a traditional Chinese painting with meticulous detail -- is helmed by the award-winning director Huang Jianzhong whose previous works include “As You Wish” and “Good Woman.”

"Embroider" scored an average viewership rating of around nine percent when it aired on Suzhou TV last December. The show was also featured on China’s state-run broadcaster CCTV.
