Hallyu star Jang Keun-suk's photobooks are bestsellers in Japan, according to the prestigious Oricon chart.
Oricon's website reported on Thursday that Jang's first official photobooks have placed first and second on Oricon's weekly book charts in the category of photobooks as of the week of August 8, making it the first time for a male's photobook to achieve the feat since April 2008.
Released in three types on July 27, "The Romance JPLUS PHOTOGRAPH COLLECTION" and "The Romance JPLUS PHOTOGRAPH COLLECTION favorite" are No. 1 and 2, respectively, after selling 11,000 and 6,000 copies each.
In the former book, Jang looks back on the past 24 years of his life as well as his present and contains photographs of him shot in the concept of 'love,' 'people,' 'play,' 'travel' and 'emotion' in London and Antwerp.
The latter book is in the form of a picture frame and features a total of 80 photos including those from the former book and new ones.
Jang, undisputedly one of the most popular Korean stars in the Asia region, has led an active career in Japan as well, touring the country and making his singing debut there.
