Hallyu star Jang Keun-suk will endorse Japanese cosmetic brand Aesthetic TBC with the country's top girl group AKB48, his agency Tree J. Company said on Thursday.
Accordingly, Jang took part in a press conference in Tokyo yesterday, attended by some 250 reporters, where he showed up with AKB48's Atsuko Maeda and Yuko Oshima, who will also promote the brand, the statement explained.
"It feels like I've become a representative of men now so I'm happy. I'd like to try my best to make Korean and Japanese men beautiful," Jang was quoted as saying.
Regarding his encounter with the members of AKB48, Jang said, "They're very pretty. I'd been studying about the Japanese culture so I've known about AKB48 as well. I feel bad for standing between the two."
Many top celebrities including SMAP's Takura Kimuya and Victoria Beckham have modeled for TBC Group's commercials.
Jang and AKB48's advertisements will go on display in Japan starting today --on some 200 billboards throughout seven cities and their commercials will hit screens on September 7.
Having made his debut as a catalog model at the early age of five, Jang has starred in a number of films and dramas in Korea and hit to stardom throughout Asia after starring in TV series "He's Beautiful" in 2009.
He made his official debut as a singer in Japan this year and is currently readying for his leading role in a Korean drama tentatively titled "Love Rain" which is scheduled to air in the first half of next year.
