A press conference was held to announce the start of filming for famous South Korean director Hur Jin-ho's new blockbuster romance, "Dangerous Liaisons", yesterday in Beijing, according to a report from sina.com.

The director was joined at the event by the movie's three leading actors, Chinese movie megastar, Zhang Ziyi, newly divorced actress, Cecilia Cheung, and the popular South Korean actor, Jang Dong-gun.

Based on the classic French novel of the same name, the movie revolves around a love triangle between a lothario and two girls with completely different characters. The novel has been adapted for the silver screen several times before, including Quentin Tarantino's adaptation, "Jackie Brown," in 1997.

At the press conference, Hur revealed that he was attracted by the complicated nature of the relationships portrayed in the novel. "Talking about how complicated the movie could be, there is a good girl, a bad girl and a lothario who cannot be defined as either good or bad", he told the media.

Hur made a name for himself with the tear jerking romance, "Palwol ui Christmas" ("Christmas in August") in 1998. He produced a Sino-South Korean co-production, "Season of Good Rain," in 2009, starring Chinese actress Gao Yuanyuan and South Korean actor Jung Woo-sung.

Shawn Dou, commonly known as 'Mou Boy' after his acting mentor Zhang Yimou, will join the cast of "Dangerous Liaisons", playing the role of a kind painter. Zhang Ziyi said she intends to bring both Dou and 'Mou Girl' Zhou Dongyu into the movie, "but she has classes at school", she said.

The release date of "Dangerous Liaisons" is yet to be confirmed.
