Popular idol-themed drama “You’re Beautiful” gets another remake in 2012. Local news agencies report that the drama will be remade into a musical that will open in Seoul in July next year.
The musical will be the third incarnation of the story of Go Mi Nyu, who masqueraded as her twin brother Go Mi Nam to join the idol band A.N.Jell. A Japanese remake aired on TBS in 2011, which closely followed the 2009 Hong Sisters original starring Jang Geun Suk, Park Shin Hye, CN Blue’s Jung Yong Hwa and FT Island’s Lee Hong Ki as the fictional idol band.
News of the “You’re Beautiful” musical remake came with the announcement of theater group Seensee Company’s 2012 line-up. The “You’re Beautiful” musical is listed in its 2012 season, set to open in late July at the M Theater in Seoul. It is expected to run until September 2012.
There are no announcements yet of the cast and production team, although Seensee Company is known to produce the Korean staging of such popular Broadway musicals as “Hairspray,” “Chicago,” “Rent” and “Mamma Mia.” Stay tuned to Soompi for more updates.
