The singer responds to criticisms about the photo taken at a toilet urinal for the first time. Earlier this week, netizens blasted Taiwanese singer Vanness Wu for a lack of respect towards God, when he uploaded a picture of himself at the toilet urinal onto his microblog.

Vanness sat down with xinmsn for an interview, when he was in town recently to promote MTV Sessions, a new show on MTV, and his new works.

MTV Sessions is a multiplatform music series, developed for regional and international artistes to showcase their craft in a studio environment in front of a live audience.

Vanness was invited as the show's first guest, where he performed an unplugged performance at Sentosa's Waterfront Studio in front of 200 lucky fans.

Recalling the recording, Vanness admitted that he felt a little nervous because it was his first time interacting at such a close distance with his fans. However, at the end of the session, he felt a sense of accomplishment.

The singer also shared that the fans were not too sure how to interact with him initially, but everyone soon had a lot of fun, inspiring Vanness to want to organise something similar in Taiwan too.

He added that the local fans are generally shy, while Japanese fans are more enthusiastic and would try to make body contact.

When asked to comment on the photo incident, the singer appeared to be puzzled. After it was briefly explained to him, Vanness turned to the camera and remarked, "Who are you to judge? Only God can judge me."

He added, "I know who I am. I know my love to God. Many people are quick to blame. So [what if I'm a celebrity]? I'm a human being."

Vanness felt that the photo was "cool" and he did nothing vulgar or inappropriate. He laughed and said, "Relax, far more serious things are happening around the world, yet you choose to talk about me?"

He added that if it was a child in the photo, people would have thought it was cute instead.

After the interview, Vanness asked his manager what had actually happened.

Furthermore, netizens also lambasted the singer for behaving intimately with his girlfriend during church service.

Responding to that, Vanness said, "Is God not about love? Are we not allowed to express our love for one another? I didn't just hug those next to me. I hugged my pastor, my male colleagues and friends too."

Vanness has been kept with singing and acting in the recent years. Lately, he also launched his own line of silver accessories, known as 3.V.0.7.

The Fine Arts graduate was most enthusiastic when the topic came to his latest venture, adding that he had hand-drawn every design.

Vanness shared that he loved drawing and designing since young. When he was about 16 years old, his mother made him feel special when she used his design and made it into a ring for him as a birthday gift.

Later, he would use the money, which he earned from his showbiz career, to create accessories of his own. It was his friends' compliments which gave rise to the idea of starting his own business.

3.V.0.7, when read backwards is "LOVE", and love is the source of Vanness' inspiration.

He recently designed a special chain for spectacles, which could also be worn as a necklace. It was initially meant as a gift for his mother, but she did not know beforehand. Vanness let on that his mother liked it the minute she laid eyes on it, and told her son that "I want one too".

When probed if his girlfriend Arissa was his other source of inspiration, Vanness did not appear to want to talk about her. He simply said, "I find inspiration everywhere."

In contrast to his reluctance to talk about his relationship, Arissa appeared to be more open. She recently posted a photo of them celebrating her father's birthday in Singapore on Twitter.

With Christmas just round the corner, we asked the singer how he would be celebrating the occasion. Vanness revealed that he had yet to decide, but he believed that he would be with his loved ones.
