Lee Byung Hun, who will be seen in the upcoming Hollywood movie “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” recently received a Letter of Appreciation from UNICEF Japan, on behalf of South Korea, for efforts in the relief operations of the Tohoku Earthquake last March. The actor is a special representative of the Korean Committee of the UNICEF.
Lee Byung Hun received the token from UNICEF Japan executive director Ken Hayami in a ceremony in Tokyo on December 16.
“I was only a part of it and other people did so much more,” he said, according to local news agencies. UNICEF Japan has reportedly received about 120 million yen (around 1.54 USD) in donations coursed through UNICEF Korea.
The occasion doubled as an opportunity for Lee Byung Hun to deliver a message of hope to the children in the earthquake-devastated areas. It was also a call for support to children worldwide who are in depressed and difficult conditions.
Meanwhile, Lee Byung Hun will kick off a series of fan-meetings in Japan on December 20. The “Lee Byung Hun On Stage 2011” tour will take him to Tokyo, Osaka and Fukuoka.
