Top Korean actor Jang Dong-gun is set to walk the red carpet at the 15th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF).
An official from Jang's agency, AM Entertainment, told 10Asia over the phone on Tuesday that the actor will attend the opening ceremony for the SIFF in Shanghai, China on June 16.
"Jang has been invited to the festival with his film 'Dangerous Liaisons,' which will be screened at the fest, with Chinese actresses Zhang Ziyi and Cecilia Cheung," the official said.
While the festival will run until June 24, the publicist added that Jang will return to Korea right after the ceremony since he has shooting schedules for his current TV series, "Gentleman's Dignity" on SBS.
Adapted from the French classic novel of the same name, famed director Hur Jin-ho's Chinese film "Dangerous Liaisons" is set in Shanghai, China in the 1930s and focuses on a love triangle between one man and two women.
The pic received favorable reviews from movie critics after it was screened at the 65th Festival De Cannes in Cannes, France last month, and Jang and Hur were there at the fest to promote the movie.
Jang is one of the biggest names in Korea's entertainment business with a number of hits under his belt including a few of the top Korean films.
His filmography includes "Friend" (2001), "TaeGukGi: Brotherhood Of War" (2003) "Typhoon" (2005), Hollywood pic "Warrior's Way" (2010) and director Kang Je-gyu's Hollywood debut war flick "My Way" (2011).
He recently made his small screen comeback in over 12 years as the male lead in the current SBS weekend series "Gentleman's Dignity" opposite actress Kim Ha-neul.
