Actress Kim Jung Hwa confessed she was an outcast in middle school.

During the press conference for MBC‘s special drama ‘Ugly Cake‘ held on the 17th, Kim Jung Hwa revealed that painful memories from her younger days came up while filming the drama.

When asked whether she ever experienced bullying, she answered, “I was an outcast in middle school. However, it wasn’t to the extent like in this drama. When I went to school, my friends wouldn’t speak to me or eat with me. [That's all].”

She continued, “I wondered why they were doing that. Then a few days went by, and they came up to me and said, ‘I’m sorry. Let’s try to get along again,’ and everything was okay. However, that experience left a scar in my heart. Now that I think about it, I think everybody was just sensitive because they were hitting puberty.”

‘Ugly Cake’ is a two-episode special that revolves around bullying and school violence. The drama will air on the 24th and 25th at 9:55PM KST.
