K-pop group JYJ member Kim Junsu has been picked as the most popular overseas artist by the Chinese public.
Kim sat at the number one spot in an entertainment program aired on BTV [Beijing TV] on January 8, while world star Justin Bieber and Madonna ranked at the second and eighth place respectively.
The program explained that Kim had a lot on his plate in 2012 releasing new albums, kicking off the world tour and appearing in musicals.
Kim, also known as XIA, broke into the music scene in 2003 as a member of TVXQ!, one of the most successful boy bands in the Asian region.
Leaving the group in 2009, Kim debuted as JYJ with some of former TVXQ! members Kim Jae-joong and Park Yuchun in April 2010.
He kicked off his stage career in 2010 as the lead role in musical Mozart. In May 2012, he released his first full-length solo album “Tarantallegra” and followed it up with a world tour.
