The KBS daily series “Cheer Up, Mr. Kim!” has reigned the weekly TV ratings chart for two straight weeks.

The weekday drama sat atop the chart after drawing in an average of 30.1 percent of total viewers during the week of March 11 and 17, TNmS [Total National Multimedia Statistics] showed on Monday.

In last week’s episodes, Tae-pyeong [Kim Dong-wan] and Woo-kyung [Wang Ji-hye] faced a series of obstacles from Woo-kyung's ex-boyfriend and her father, mostly due to Tae-pyeong’s lower social status.

The KBS weekend drama “You Are The Best!” secured its second position with an average of 24.6 percent, which is a 1.9 percent fall from the last week’s debut score.

The family drama’s two leads, the idol starlet IU and ex-musical star Cho Jung-suk, have been depicting a strong chemistry, calming concerns for the young and less-experienced stars.

While the daily news show “KBS 9 o’clock News” landed at No. 3 with an average of 21.8 percent ratings, the MBC weekend series “One Hundred Years’ Legacy” ranked at the following spot after posting an average of 20.8 percent.

Rounding off the top five was the MBC soap opera “Maybe Love,” which pulled in an average of 19.8 percent viewers in the same time frame.

MBC said on March 17 that the channel is going to give a reward to the main cast members and crew of the popular series for their hard work on the set, after the series broke its own ratings record five episodes in a row.

Other popular TV programs included MBC medical epic “The King’s Doctor,” SBS revenge play “Queen of Ambition,” SBS real variety show “The Laws of the Jungle,” MBC daily series “Oh Ja-ryong is Coming” and SBS entertainment show “I Like Sundays.”

Meanwhile, Nielsen Korea put the top three programs in the same order and similar figures from those of TNmS during the second week of March.

While “Cheer Up” grabbed the top seed with 30.1 percent, “You Are The Best!” and “KBS 9 o’clock News” followed next with 24.6 and 21.8 percent ratings, respectively.
