After spending the last few months largely out of the spotlight after his DUI incident, Nichkhun has signaled his return first with his volunteer TV program and he will now be rejoining his members for their upcoming concert.

Nichkhun will be seen performing with 2PM for its upcoming Live Tour in Shanghai – What time is it set to take place on November 17 at 7 p.m. (local time) at the Shanghai Mercedes Benz Arena Center.

After a three-month hiatus following a drunk driving accident in July, Nichkhun is returning to television on an MBC program featuring Hallyu stars volunteering in Africa.

“Nichkhun joined fellow 2PM member Taecyeon and actors Lee Tae-ran and Park Sung-woong and left for Tanzania on Friday to take part in ‘Koica’s Dream,’?” MBC said in a statement.

The network emphasized that it had been pushing the idol group singer to join the program for some time before he agreed to participate.

2PM’s Nichkhun is soon expected to make his TV comeback, local media reported on October 5.

According to MBC, the 2PM member who suspended all activities following his DUI car accident in July, has confirmed his casting in “2012 KOICA’s Dream,” a reality show where celebrities do community service work in underprivileged countries.

“2PM Nichkhun’s casting in ‘KOICA’s Dream’ was made possible after MBC made the offer and Nichkhun agreed to it. The producers wanted to have Nichkhun on the show for a long time, since he is known for his charity and community service work,” MBC said.

“Nichkhun likes the show’s overall concept, and he’s decided to join us, as an extension to the community service work he’s been doing lately,” it added.

K-pop idol group 2PM’s member Nichkhun has been summarily indicted by local public prosecutor.

An official from Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency said Thursday that the prosecutor in charge indicted Nichkhun as summary offense for a fine of four million Korean won [approximately $3,530] after driving under the influence of alcohol, according to Korea's entertainment news agency STARNEWS' report on August 30.

“Nichkhun’s blood alcohol level was not that high and he is in agreement with the victim whose injury was not so severe,” the official reportedly said in the news.

“For the aforementioned reasons and similar cases in the past, we've decided to make this suspension. The victim also doesn’t want Nichkhun’s punishment,” the prosecutor added.

On July 24, Nichkhun hit a motorcycle in southern Seoul while driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.056 percent, which resulted in the suspension of his driver's license.

Nichkhun and the motorcyclist came to an agreement on July 31 and the 25-year-old star visited a police station to get detailed investigations on August 2.

A PR rep from his agency JYP Entertainment told the magazine Friday that the singer is still spending time alone for self-restraint.

In the meantime, Nichkhun has stopped attending all activities as a member of 2PM after the accident including the firm's joint concert, "JYP Nation," which was held in Seoul on August 4 and in Tokyo, Japan on 18 and 19.

Recently, it has been confirmed that 2PM‘s Nichkhun has been volunteering at a Buddhist welfare facility for the disabled for approximately two weeks now. After being charged with DUI, Nichkhun decided to take some time off for self-reflection. He wanted to give back to the society during this time and as a result, he decided to volunteer for children with disabilities. It seems like he chose this particular institution based on his own religious affiliation.

Nichkhun has been diligently visiting this institution daily for about two weeks to spend time with the children. However, no one knew about his community service during this time, as Nichkhun himself did not want his community service to be advertised publicly as the news could cause some condemnation from the public belittling his sincere efforts to give back to the society as a show or publicity stunt. JYP Entertainment respected such decision and helped him keeping his secret.

The institution was also very cautious and hesitant in discussion Nichkhun’s community service. An official of the institution commented, “He is just one of the volunteers. The six members of 2PM appeared on the April 7th broadcast of KBS 2TV‘s ‘Entertainment Relay‘ and a recent clip of their fan meeting in Korea was aired.

The clip showed the members chatting with each other and communicating with fans. However, ‘Entertainment Relay’ noticed an odd comment made by Nichkhun.

In the clip, Nichkhun revealed to fans, “(When I get a girlfriend) I don’t eat late night snacks. On the February 22nd episode of SBS ‘Midnight TV Entertainment‘, Nichkhun took part in a ‘Star Fast Ball Interview‘ and selected his eyes as his favorite physical feature.
