Untold Scandal is the adaptation screenplay from famous French novel “Les Liaisons Dangereuses” of Pierre Choderlos de Laclos, first published in 1782. The story is about a pair of wicked man and woman who in their mind love is only an entertainment game and always use sex as a weapon to humiliate and degrade others. The book is an epistolary novel, composed entirely of letters written by the various characters to each other. And finally these letters are the weapons to destroy their wicked life.

The novel has been made into a play by Chistopher Hampton which opened on London's West End and later crossed over to Broadway. It has also been adapted into various movies, under many different names. But the most well-known versions must be in 1988, in the name “Dangerous Liaisons”, directed by Stephen Frears and starring by Glenn Close, John Malkovich, and Michelle Pfeiffer (Yes, Keeanu Reeve also in this movie). Based on Hampton's play with eighteenth-century scenes.

Next in 1989, in the name “Valmont”, starring by Annette Bening, Colin Firth, and Meg Tilly. And “Cruel Intentions” in 1999, directed by Roger Kumble and starring by Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, and Reese Witherspoon in a modern reworking involving teens. For Korean version, Untold Scandal is not the first time, before that in 1970 have been created into film named “Uiheomhan gwangye”, directed by Young Nam Ko and starring by Mu-ryong Choi, Hie Mun, and Ji-myeong Oh

In 2003 as “Untold Scandal”, directed by Lee Je Yong and starring by Lee Mik Suk, Jeon Do Yeon, and Bae Yong Joon with the adaptation screenplay into Chosun Dynasty. This is the unique version and incredibly fascinating. Even the reflection of two faced people in noble society is as good as the original itself.
สำหรับฉบับปี 2003 ในชื่อเรื่องว่า Untold Scandal นี้ กำกับโดยลีแจยง นำแสดงโดยลีมีซุก, จวนโดยอน, และเบยองจุน เนื้อหาถูกนำมาดัดแปลงใหม่ให้เป็นเรื่องราวสมัยราชวงศ์โชซอน ซึ่งถือว่าเป็นเวอร์ชั่นที่แปลกใหม่ไม่มีใครเหมือน และมีเสน่ห์ในตัวเองอย่างน่าทึ่ง แม้แต่ภาพของผู้คนในราชสำนักที่ตี 2 หน้าก็ทำได้ดีไม่แพ้ต้นฉบับเลยทีเดียว

We cannot deny that Korean movie have their own charming with their striking setting. Especially in period movie like this both setting and costumes look phenomenal and obviously shown the culture. Activity day after day of life, way of nobility, thoughts and believes reflected in every scenes. Even the bed scenes also beautiful like a fine great artwork.

In the eyes of all women in Chosun, Chowon is a dangerous man who you need to get away from him. But if you just met his eyes once, you can’t help but eager to take that risk. This must be unbearable charming of Chowon, even Bae Yong Joon cannot bear this charm, he had said ,
“I feel that this character is very charming. He know what is love and in the end, died for love. Probably many women hope that the man in their life will only treat them well and only this they regard them as good man!”
