The 15th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival (PiFan) runs from July 14 to 24. The festival will screen 221 films from 34 countries on six screens in Puchon, along with other performances and exhibitions.
PiFan is the second largest film festival in Korea after the Busan International Film Festival, and focuses on a wide range of science fiction, fantasy, and horror films from around the world.
Diverse filmmakers and moviegoers come to Puchon
The opening film is "Bollywood: The Greatest Love Story Ever Told" by Indian filmmaker and screenwriter Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, and will be followed by "The Incite Mill" by Hideo Nakata, "Invasion of Alien Bikini" by Oh Young-Doo, "Ninja Kids!" by Miike Takashi and more.
PiFan is more than just a festival for film enthusiasts, but also a chance for film professionals to meet each other and exchange information. In addition to Mehra, Hiroshi Takahashi, the writer behind the Japanese horror movie "Ring", Richard Gale of "SPOON vs. SPOON" and designer and visual art director Christian Lorenz Scheurer, who created this year's poster, will all be on hand for a variety of meetings and events.
In addition to enjoying the films, PiFan visitors can also get discounts at designated tourist spots and some restaurants during the festival, including Aiins World amusement park, Puchon Robot Park and the Korean Comic Museum.
