So the drama groundhog has seen its shadow, and now we’ll be getting six more episodes of Warrior Baek Dong-soo. The extension takes the drama’s total episode count up to 30 from its initially scheduled 24, although producers have stated that the drama had always had a 30-episode run in mind and therefore should be able to support extra weeks without too much strain. We hope.
Fusion sageuk Warrior Baek Dong-soo has been performing strongly in its Monday-Tuesday slot, taking the ratings prize over MBC’s sageuk series Kye Baek and KBS’s Frankenstein of a spy-romance-comedy-melo-action series Myung-wol the Spy. SBS has got strong drama performers on every night of the week, and that’s never an easy slot to give up if you can help it.
This means that Thousand Day Promise — the melodrama penned by hitmaker writer Kim Soo-hyun that marks Kim Rae-won’s post-army comeback, co-starring Su Ae — will be pushed back three weeks from its initial premiere date of September 26.
