Korean drama fans are now able to watch one of the most popular TV series, SBS' "Deep Rooted Tree" in 3D.

The award-winning TV series, which features many outdoor action scenes, has been produced into 3D and the series will begin its air on Samsung's Smart TV on June 15, Samsung Electronics' officials said in a press release on Friday.

The TV adaptation of Lee Jeong-myeong's novel of the same name is originally a 24-part series, but the firm noted that the reproduced version will air once a week for 27 weeks on Samsung's smart TV.

The publicists explained that "Deep Rooted Tree" is only the first to come after SBS Contents Hub has inked a deal with the electronics company to provide 3D contests through Samsung's devices.

"As much as the series was a flawless work with outstanding cinematography, we're hoping that our consumers will now be able to watch their favorite soap operas vividly in 3D," an official from Samsung said at the launching event of Samsung Smart TV and the broadcaster's collaboration held in Seoul over the weekend.

"Samsung Electronics is planning to make more ways of enjoying smart TV by supplementing 3D contents in a steady manner."

"Tree," written by scenarists Kim Young-hyun and Park Sang-yeon, pivots around the story of one of the major historical figures in Korean history, King Sejong (played by actor Han Suk-kyu).

The show, co-starring Shin Se-gyeong and Jang Hyuk, was the most-watched series on the Wednesday and Thursday primetime lineup during its run late last year.

After garnering seven wins at the SBS Drama Awards early this year--including the grand prize, best drama, best actor, teenage star and producer awards--the mega-hit series was sold to distribution firms based in Iraq, Turkey and Romania.
