SNSD’s Yoona recently sent New Year’s greetings to her fans.

On January 1, Yoona said, “Hi, everyone. Did you end the year 2012 well? Thanks to you, I did well,” on SNSD’s SM Town website.

She went on saying, “It’s 2013 now. Did you eat rice-cake soup? I’ve waited for the new year to come and for more good things to happen. I’m really happy now to release a new album.”

Yoona also promoted SNSD’s new song, “I Got A Boy.”

While “I Got A Boy,” the lead track of SNSD’s new album, released on January 5 at 5:00 p.m., was receiving many favorable reviews for its hip-hop, electronic, and dub-step sounds, Yoona said, “I think there will be many likes and dislikes after people listen to this song, but we’ll try our best because this is a new type of song that we try. We’re nervous, too. Happy New Year. I hope you always stay healthy. Be careful not to fall on the icy roads. Let’s cheer up!”

SNSD topped the domestic and overseas charts with their new song. On January 2, SNSD topped the domestic charts and the Japanese iTunes Album Chart. They also ranked 18th on the U.S. iTunes Album Chart.

Along with the lead track, other tracks from the new album are also receiving many favorable reviews. SNSD topped such real-time charts as Melon, Mnet, Olleh Music, Monkey 3, Soribada, and Bugs with the lead track and ranked in the top ten of the charts with “Dancing Queen,” “Express 999,” “Baby Maybe,” “Tell Me,” “Promise,” and “Glass Eye.”

“I Got a Boy” is an electronic dance number, accompanied with pop, retro, and urban sounds and characterized by an addictive melody in the chorus part. Under the main theme of Girls’ Talk, it describes how girls talk with their friends in daily life.

SNSD will perform the song on Mnet’s M Countdown on January 3.
