Korea’s three major broadcasters -- KBS, SBS, MBC -- have each announced the year’s winners in the drama category.

Actress Kim Nam-joo was honored with the Grand Prize as the female lead in the year`s most-watched TV show, “My Husband Got a Family” at the KBS Drama Awards on New Year’s Eve, 2012.

The family drama attracted an average rating of 33.1 percent when it was aired between February 25 and December 9 of this year.

Kim made her debut in 1994 and is also well-known for being actor Kim Seung-woo’s wife. The actress grabbed her first prize in 2010 with her role in MBC drama “Queen of Reversals.”

The 16-part series has received rave reviews from the public as well as critics with the story of a father`s revenge on his daughter`s murderer, earning an average rating of 13.6 percent.

Son, an acclaimed actor, has usually appeared in TV dramas in supporting roles and he seemed visibly moved as he was finally given first prize since his debut in 1991.

Lee Min-ho of “The Great Faith,” So Ji-sub of “Phantom” and Jang Dong-gun of “Gentleman’s Dignity” shared the Best Actor prize at SBS. Meanwhile, Jung Ryeo-won of “Cho Han Ji,” Han Ji-min of “Rooftop Prince” and Kim Ha-neul of “Gentleman’s Dignity” shared the Best Actress prize.

At the 2012 MBC Drama Awards, actor Cho Seung-woo took home the Grand Prize with his role in the ongoing TV series “The King’s Doctor.”

The 50-part historical drama has recently posted an average rating of around 18 to 19 percent.

Making his debut in 1999, Cho rose to stardom with his role in hit movies "The Classic,” "Marathon" and "Tazza: The High Rollers."

He has also led a successful career in musicals, starring in famous productions such as "Carmen," "Rent," "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" and “Jekyll & Hyde.”

However, Cho’s win has got a backlash from the public. Several news outlets as well as netizens have commented Cho is a remarkable actor but that MBC should have given it to Ahn Jae-wook, the male lead in the hit drama "Light and Shadow.”

The controversy is not expected to blow over any time soon as Ahn didn’t receive any kind of prize despite his brilliant acting in the drama.

In the meantime, Kim Soo-hyun and Han Ga-in, the couple of historical romance show "The Moon Embracing the Sun," were honored with the Best Actor and Actress prize at MBC.

Jang Nara′s agency denied rumors that the singer-turned-actress is dating actor Kim Nam Gil.
The rumors gained strength when an actor uploaded a suspicious post. Kim Young Chun, an actor who appears in KBS2′s School 2013, wrote on his me2day on January 1, "Kim Nam Gil hyungnim (big brother) visited the set today and paid for a food truck in celebration of Jang Nara nuna′s (big sister) Excellence Award [at the Drama Awards]."

Netizens pounced on the post, as Jang Nara and Kim Nam Gil had never shown they were close anywhere else and it made them wonder why Kim Nam Gil was celebrating Jang Nara′s win. They started to conclude that the two were probably dating each other.

A rep from Narajjang.com, Jang Nara′s agency, however, told enews on January 2, "We know that the two are close friends. They′re simply close as seniors and juniors; they′re not lovers, like most seem to think. They′re actually pretty awkward around each other because they′re so polite."

Kim Young Chun deleted the controversial post when it continued to rank in the keyword search charts of portals.

It seems fans aren’t the only ones interested in Kim Tae Hee and Rain‘s relationship for military officials are now taking a look into Rain’s time away during his service with the recent outbreak of the news about the star couple.

Earlier reports stated that Rain and Kim Tae Hee had seen each other fairly often, which was made possible due to Rain’s frequent time off.

Rain apparently left 25 times during the past year for official duties as he had been granted leave due to recordings and choreography rehearsals as part of Rain’s performances for military events. In addition to the other types of leave that had been granted to him, he has left the base a total of 60 times this past year.

So questions have arose asking if the singer had used some of these days that he was granted leave for his duties, including rehearsing for military events, for personal time to meet with Kim Tae Hee instead.

With questions rising, military officials are currently investigating into the matte

Hallyu boy band 2PM kicked off the new year on a promising note with full-page advertisements in two of Japan’s leading dailies.

The ads about the group’s upcoming gigs at the Tokyo Dome in April were published by the Asahi Shimbun and the Yomiuri Shimbun.

JYP Entertainment also made it clear that it was proud of the band’s first solo concerts at the famed venue, to take place on April 20 and 21.

The two-day showcase titled “Legend of 2PM in Tokyo Dome” was deemed a phenomenal feat because the group only made its Japanese debut in May 2011.

“The only male K-pop groups to have performed at the place dubbed ‘the center stage of concerts in Japan’ are TVXQ, JYJ, Super Junior and Big Bang.”

Thus 2PM will become the fifth Korean boy band to perform at the 55,000-seat baseball stadium.

“The boys vowed in May of last year after their show at the Budokan that they’d attempt to perform at the Tokyo Dome next,” said a spokesperson from the agency.

Actor So Ji-sub kept it short and sweet when he took to the stage to receive the Best Actor honor at SBS’ Acting Awards on Monday night.

So was recognized for his work in “The Ghost.”

As the winner from the Drama Special segment, So showed that he is indeed “so ganji,” a nickname given to him by fans that means “so cool,” with his indifference to the award.

Unlike other actors who made the most of the time allotted by thanking everyone possible, So kept it simple by just uttering, “Thank you,” before walking off the stage.

Everyone was dumbfounded by the short speech, most of all the hosts Cha Hwa-yeon and Song Chang-ui, who hesitated for sometime as to whether or not to proceed with the show.

The next award recipient was actress Han Ji-min for “Rooftop Prince,” and whilst on stage she also commented on So’s awkward award speech.

“I was sitting here thinking, ‘Oh my, what is the next recipient to do?’”

[News] Kim Tae Hee′s Agency Says She′s More Than Friends with Rain.

[News]  Kim Tae Hee′s Agency Says She′s More Than Friends with Rain.
Cr. - enewsworld

The start of the new year saw the birth of a new big celebrity couple!

Following a series of paparazzi photos that were released through a certain news outlet, Kim Tae Hee′s agency admitted that Kim Tae Hee had been seeing Rain.

Agency reps, however, stated that the two were merely love interests at the moment.

Kim Tae Hee′s agency said through an official press release on the night of January 1 that "Kim Tae Hee and Rain are currently getting to know each other."

The release acknowledged that the two had met, but drew the line by saying that they were a couple that had just started off.

"It is true that the two met, but they′re currently getting to know each other with good feelings," it said.

It also emphasized that though reports said the two had been together for three months, it has been "just one month since they started their relationship."

"The two are well-known celebrities so they don′t have much time to see each other, and it is true that the places where they can sit down to have a talk are limited also," it continued. "In such conditions, they′ve started to see each other in a new light, but we believe it′s a time when it′s difficult for even them to say exactly how they feel."

It finished, "We know that many are interested in them due to the reports and photos, but we have just told the story as it is."

On the morning of the same day, an internet news outlet had published photos of Kim Tae Hee and Rain apparently on a date, saying that the two had been seeing each other since September 2012. In the photos, the two are seen meeting inside a car with their faces covered.

According to the report, the two first met when they shot a commercial for a social commerce website together in 2011. As Rain entered the military and was transferred to the Defense Media Agency, they started to keep in touch and met each other whenever Rain had his leaves.

Rain′s agency has denied the reports, saying in a phone call, "We don′t know anything about the reports. We haven′t heard anything about it."

Kim Tae Hee′s agency instead continued to speak up for the couple, as a rep said in another phone call with enews on January 2, "Even the agency didn′t know that the two had been meeting. We heard from Kim Tae Hee after the reports were released."

"We would have made the announcement sooner if the two had been a definite couple," the rep added. "Kim Tae Hee, however, said that the two were more than friends but not yet a couple, making it hard to put together a stance."

The rep then said, "The two kept in touch as all celebrities that have shot commercials together do, and started to really see each other a month ago. Rain hasn′t been able to talk with Kim Tae Hee since the reports were released because he′s in the military."

Kim Tae Hee will be making a comeback to the small screen in March with SBS′ Jang Ok Jung. Rain will be released from his military duties in July.
